The garden view room was spacious with a cozy vibe. The pub atmosphere is spot on, and we enjoyed some delicious BBQ chicken-such a treat! The Nespresso machine outside our door was a nice touch too.

Comfortable and fabulous place all in all, has pleasant staff on check-out. Its location is incredible, really close to the garden area of the pub, Windsor, including Legoland and bar / restaurant. Plus, it's not too far from St Marys Church Winkfield.

Nice comfortable room for an over night stay. Continental breakfast included in the rate was very pleasant.
Televisions are located next to the inter-connecting door, which means if you want an early night or a lie in, you have to hope the person in the next room does too.

Nothing was too much trouble made to feel welcome Excellent food and service in the Restaurant Lovely room Full freeview now which wasn there last time fresh milk in the fridge which for me is a major plus Would like them to go back to the continental breakfast in the room as an option selected when you book. Makes it easier when leaving early.

stylish decor - the place was buzzing, very attractive overall
breakfast disappointing and charging an extra for cooked breadkfast at £11.25 was way to high. Morning coffee was bitter and undrinkable.

It was very comfortable the room was quite large it was very nicely decorated and had everything you need for a couple of nights stay. The staff could not have been nicer.
At breakfast it was only a continental breakfast with cereal toast and croissants. There was no fruit as an alternative to cereal and they seemed really surprised when i asked for some. The cost of the full english breakfast was rather expensive if you wanted that at £10.50 each.

I think the negative comments written about the Winning Post have been due to the differing expectations of clients. For a start, it is not a hotel or a B&B or even a guest house and nor does it pretend to be. It is a Restaurant With Rooms. People come here for the gourmet restaurant and it is an added bonus that you can also stay in a very nice comfortable room at the end of the night. So it isn't pub grub and it is priced accordingly (£87 dinner for 2 with wine but this included melt in the mouth fillet steak and a lobster dominated seafood platter). Breakfast was continental as frying a full English in the morning obviously isn't a priority when there is a pub to run (£12.50 surcharge for this proves the point). On saying that the croissants, toast and jam were perfectly nice. The bed was comfy, the room was clean, the fresh milk in the fridge was a nice touch and the place was quirky and friendly. The Saturday night bar was full of Polo people having a chuckle after a chucka but their braying couldn't even be heard in the restaurant and the waiting staff were cheerful and helpful. It was our anniversary and we had a lovely time.
Horror of horrors one of the pillow cases was too large for the pillow (see previous comment) but we bravely managed to put this catastrophe behind us. True the plumbing probably did pre-date the building by at least two centuries and the sound of the shower in the adjoining room felt like we were coming under air attack from enemy gun fire but it was the morning and it was time to get up anyway. The grouting in the bathroom could have done with a bit of touching up but the place is under new ownership and I am pretty sure it will be on the To Do list. Was £100 a night expensive? Maybe a little but we are in Royal Berkshire and it was a Saturday night over bank holiday weekend so no complaints there. Don't let the cynics put you off coming.

The garden area offered a lovely outdoor atmosphere, perfect for enjoying drinks on a warm day. I appreciated the pet-friendly environment. The coffee facilities in the room were excellent, especially having a Nespresso machine at my disposal. Breakfast options was excellent, with hearty portions and good variety, though getting served took longer than anticipated. The noise from nearby guests disrupted the quiet I hoped for. Staff's attentiveness wavered, particularly at peak times when service lagged. The twin room felt overdue for refreshing.

Arrived an hour early, staff very friendly and we were told we could check in early as the housekeeper had finished. Dropped our bags off and headed to the olympics.
Room 7 Arrived to be told the room fridge had broken and there was no milk in the room. Poor quality towels Bathroom filthy. Shower rose was disgusting. (I refused to shower in it) A red stain in the bath soap dish looked like dried blood (although this couldn't be verified) Bathroom tiles not cleaned properly in weeks if not months,Shower screens dirty. Rusty shower rail. Mirror cleaned with a dirty cloth. Layers of dust on ledges. Evidence of leaks through the ceiling with brown unsightly stains. Old pipe from the toilet cistern still in place. This was totally uncapped allowing all sorts of insects to join us overnight. Large gap between door and floor allowing landing light through making it difficult to get to sleep. Sound proofing poor.Awoken at 5am by noisy compressors or other electrical/mechanical equipment.(So a dreadful nights sleep) Pillow cases 8" to big for the pillows. Room full length mirror cracked. Bedroom area tired at best. Called manager at 8pm, who came to the room and tried to tell me it was a old shower rose and needed replacing. He did say he had been in post two days and the priority is refurbishing the rooms. May I suggest the cleaning standards are improved dramatically, it will be a far cheaper option. Arrived for breakfast, to find no staff about. Went to find them at the kitchen. To sum it all up we were pretty keen to leave. When I left, I mentioned how the room was a complete let down, but got no response. E-mailed to complain and ask for a refund on 11 August. Still waiting for a reply some four days later. I suppose that sums it all up. 0 out of 10 Winning Post. I would never return based on our experience as it pretty much ruined our two day trip to the south.

Really friendly welcome and attentive staff, both in the restaurant and in the hotel. Room was lovely and matched the photographs on the website, very comfortable bed and bedding, good facilities and great size room. We ate in the restaurant after our day in Ascot and the food was delicious, really impressed and we felt looked after through the weekend. Great countryside location for Ascot.
Felt the shower space was very small and difficult to move around in, and there seemed to be an issue with the plumbing in the bathroom too as the pipes and water flow made really loud noises whenever anyone in the block used the system. Odd but didn't effect our stay. Also felt the additional charge for a cooked breakfast at £12.50 each was a little steep (was delicious) but £25 for two people.
